The story behind the stories

About G. Mac

G. Mac grew up in Newfoundland, Canada, and now lives in the Pacific Northwest. Both Newfoundland and Oregon reflect the life she loves—being outdoors, exploring nature, hiking, and spending time with her family and dogs.

She began her career as a kindergarten and elementary school teacher, where she loved creating imaginative, hands-on activities that encouraged children to become curious and excited about learning.

G. Mac has also always loved the feeling of escaping into an imagined world. As a child, the magic of Christmas, Santa, and the North Pole gave her a place filled with wonder and possibility. Years later, she created that same kind of magic for her own daughters, nieces, and nephews.

Every Christmas brought new North Pole adventures. The reindeer made silly mistakes, important objects were lost, clues appeared, and the children searched outside to help. Notes from Santa completed the story, while the characters and traditions of North Pole Academy became part of the family’s Christmas celebrations. Her daughters are now grown, but they still look forward to that magic every year.

G. Mac created the North Pole Academy books and activities to share that experience with other children and families. Through stories filled with curiosity, friendship, teamwork, kindness, and unexpected mishaps, she hopes to give young readers a world they can enter—and traditions they can make their own.
